Oktoberfest 2012: Big Bear Coverage
Big Bear Lake, California; the location for the 4th annual Oktoberfest Car Show. This was my 3rd year attending and it didn't disappoint. It's great to see this show grow over the years and the location for the event is great. It takes place in Southern California's Big Bear Lake, nestled in Big Bear mountain. Just the cruise up to the top is worthy of a drive.
We met up with some fellow Euro enthusiasts Friday night to cruise up there. It was a caravan of at least 20 cars. It was hard to stay together but was fun nonetheless. While it was hot here in Southern California, it was cold up in the mountains. It was a great change of scenery from all the hustle and bustle of the daily grind.
When we arrived at Northwood Resort, the host hotel as well as the location for the show, there was plenty of Euro cars packed into the lot. There was also plenty of people walking around with beers and enjoying the Oktoberfest spirit. Friday night was spent with a keg and plenty of festivities.
Saturday morning arrived with a cold morning but warmed up as the sun rose. There was plenty of people up early waxing, detailing and getting the cars ready for the show and shine. How they got up early after a night of partying is a mystery to me. Plenty of vendors show up such as ABD Racingwerks, OEMplus, Fifteen52, and HRE Wheels to show off their products. There was also plenty events to keep everyone entertained such as Twinkie eating contest, limbo and beer boot chugging contest.
Saturday night ended with more partying and Sunday ended with a cruise around Big Bear Lake. It was a fun event to attend and it was sad to leave Big Bear Lake. Looking forward to next years event which will be bigger and better.
We decided to take a few shots before we headed home.
The next few were taken by Tyler Brock. Enjoy!
